Some persons living in Zongo communities across Ghana have lauded President Akufo-Addo for the creation of the Ministry for Inner Cities and Zongo Development.
According to them, the decision is a step in the right direction since it will help address the challenges facing such areas.
President Akufo-Addo announced the creation of the Ministry for Inner City and Zongo Development Thursday, a decision that falls in line with the NPP’s campaign promise to assist Zongos – predominantly Muslim settlements in cities – to give such communities a facelift.
The residents say the minister responsible for that ministry must understand the plight of those living in such areas before implementing any initiatives.
“We are very excited about this new creation and we want to thank President Akufo-Addo for creating such a ministry which will help us” one said.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Institute of Planners has praised the president, saying the creation of such a ministry is long overdue.
