The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has attributed the conduct of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group, Delta Force to high level of unemployment among the youth.

Members of Delta Force attacked a KMA circuit court and freed their members who were standing trial for assaulting the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator.

Thirteen of the members of the vigilante group who were arrested were put before the court on charges of assault.

According to the Regional Minister, the action by the vigilante group was mainly due to joblessness of some members of the group.

Despite claiming that it would be impossible to isolate the police from blame in the matter, the minister said the party will work to provide jobs for the members to bring peace and harmony into the country.

“One side deals with the rule of law and the other has to do with employment. The police will deal with the first but the latter; we think its partisan issues because it has to do with work.

“So we will give them work to bring peace to prevent them from keeping pain in their heart to continue these rowdy attacks…” he indicated on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Monday.

The minister however insisted that those believed to have flouted the laws will be dealt with in accordance with the laws insisting that the party will not interfere with the legal processes.

“We don’t want to interfere with the legal process. For now the law should work and the police and court are monitoring. We have to find a way that will help them and their family. After the legal process, we will find a way to give them work so that they can also feed their family…” he noted.
