His announcement generated a rousing applause obviously from members of the Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA) at the maiden Town Hall meeting under the auspices of the Economic Management Team in Accra, Wednesday.

High import duty has been a big challenge to trade unions, especially GUTA who petitioned the State to intervene and review the high taxes and duties on imported items.

The situation, coupled with the introduction of the paperless port system, they argued, was affecting their businesses as they were unable to clear their goods on time to make their profit.
