Ghana Immigration Service has arrested victims being trafficked alongside four (4) of their leaders at the Aflao boarder trying to move out of the country to Nigeria en-route to Saudi Arabia.

Acting Head of Public Affairs for the Immigration service, Amoako Atta who confirmed the arrest to Joy News’s Latif Iddrisu said they were arrested last Sunday upon a tip off.

According to him, the officers intercepted two buses loaded with the girls and their traffickers.

He said they are currently being held assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, some of the girls told Joy News they are recruited through phony agencies or sold to persons by their guardians.

They said they were going for jobs to better their lives adding that they are sometimes made to do menial jobs for a pittance under harsh conditions.

There have been speculations that influential government officials and other respected persons are behind the practice, however, no arrests have been made.
