Attram De Visser eye Division One League title after FA Cup exit

Attram De Visser Academy head coach, Godwin Attram, has set his sights on winning next season’s Division One League title following his side’s elimination from the MTN FA Cup.

The academy side suffered a 3-1 defeat to fellow Division One outfit Golden Kick FC in a semi-final clash at TNA Park over the weekend, ending their impressive run in the competition.

Despite the setback, Attram expressed pride in his team’s performance and maintained a positive outlook on the future.

In an interview with Graphic Sports, he reflected on key challenges that contributed to their exit, including the mid-season departure of top players to overseas clubs and a sudden wave of illness that struck his squad before the match.

“Next year is going to be a different thing. We are actually looking forward to winning the league,” Attram stated.

“This year, we transferred so many players outside the country, which affected us in the league. We played the FA Cup with strategy, but today it’s for Golden Kicks. The almighty God says it’s for them, and that’s fair, so I congratulate them.”

Attram further revealed that eight of his players fell ill shortly after arriving in Tarkwa, which disrupted his tactical setup.

He said a request to postpone the match due to the health scare was rejected by tournament organizers.

“From the onset, we had eight players who were sick. They got sick immediately we arrived here, and these are the things that affect performance,” he lamented.

“We had really prepared very well for this game, but these things happen. We had to change our selection and rely on other players. It’s not an excuse, but I want everyone to know I called for the postponement of the game, but the committee said no — we had to play.”

Despite the loss, Attram De Visser’s journey to the semi-finals earned them widespread praise. As one of the few lower-tier clubs to reach this stage of the competition, their tactical discipline and resilience have been widely commended.
