The Asutifi South District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Johnson Opoku Tawiah, is calling for more resources to strengthen the agency’s work in the Ahafo Region.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr. Opoku Tawiah explained that the department’s role in disaster prevention and response requires significant logistics, yet it continues to receive little attention.
He revealed that his outfit has been engaging schools, churches, and market centres to educate residents on disaster prevention measures.
However, he stressed that without adequate support from the District Assembly, corporate bodies, and individuals, their efforts will remain limited.
“We need resources to educate and respond effectively when disasters occur. NADMO cannot work alone,” he said.
The NADMO director, however, commended the District Chief Executive, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, for regularly leading clean-up exercises to desilt drains and prevent flooding.
He assured that his office would continue to support such initiatives in the various communities.
