Asutifi South DCE warns community police assistants against misconduct

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South in the Ahafo Region, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, has cautioned community police assistants against engaging in unlawful activities, warning that offenders will face strict sanctions.

He spoke in Hwidiem during a ceremony where the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) officially deployed 29 recruits to the Ghana Police Service and 18 to the Ghana National Fire Service.

Mr. Donkor noted that some community police assistants have previously misused the Police Service name to carry out unlawful acts, tarnishing the reputation of the institution.

He stressed that under his watch, any YEA beneficiaries attached to the security services who engage in misconduct will be dealt with decisively.

“Those who use the uniform and the Police Service name to commit unlawful acts will not be spared. We will take firm action to protect the integrity of the institution,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ahafo Regional Director of YEA, Awudu Razak, revealed that a monitoring and evaluation committee has been established to track the performance of beneficiaries on a monthly basis.

He explained that allowances will not be paid to those who are absent without valid reasons and added that repeated absenteeism could lead to outright dismissal.

“We want to ensure value for money. Anyone who fails to report to work consistently will lose their allowance and may eventually be dismissed,” he stated.
