Asutifi South DCE urges drivers to support 24-hour economy market programme

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, has appealed to commercial drivers in Hwidiem to fully cooperate with the rollout of the 24-Hour Economy Market programme.

Speaking to Adom News after a meeting with drivers on the Hwidiem–Kenyasi, Hwidiem–Goaso, Hwidiem–Acherensua, Hwidiem–Kumasi, and Hwidiem–Techiman routes, Mr. Donkor explained that Hwidiem has been selected as the site for the new 24-hour market.

He directed drivers to relocate their operations to the new site along the Kenyasi road by Thursday, September 11, 2025.

He cautioned that drivers who fail to comply will face sanctions, as the Ghana Police Service has been tasked to enforce the directive.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of the Hwidiem–Kenyasi Taxi Drivers Union, Seidu Issifu, welcomed the initiative but appealed to the assembly to ensure that the new site is spacious and conducive enough to accommodate the increasing number of commercial vehicles in the area.
