Asutifi South Assembly begins reshaping deplorable roads

The Asutifi South District Assembly has begun reshaping key roads in the district to improve accessibility and reduce the hardships commuters have faced for years.

Speaking during the reshaping of the Hwidiem bypass road, District Chief Executive (DCE) Benjamin Assabil Donkor told Adom News that the road had been left unattended for nearly eight years, leading to severe erosion that made it difficult for motorists to use.

He explained that the area is fast-developing and densely populated, hence the need for the assembly to deploy DRIP machines to reshape the road and ease the burden on residents and drivers.

Some residents welcomed the intervention, noting that the deplorable state of the road had long discouraged taxi and tricycle (pragia) drivers from operating on the stretch.

They added that heavy rains often triggered flooding, which affected homes and shops along the route.

“For the assembly to finally reshape the road is commendable,” one resident said.
