Asutifi North moves to curb student gun possession

-

The Examination Coordinator for the Asutifi North District, Frank Otchere, says the education directorate has intensified measures to prevent students from possessing small arms in senior high schools.

In an interview with Adom News at Wamahinso during the SRC Week celebration of Gyamfi Kumanini Senior High Technical School, he explained that the education directorate has partnered with the Ghana Police Service to sensitise students on the dangers and consequences of small arms possession.

He also indicated that school management teams are in constant discussions with parents, encouraging them to closely monitor their children and be aware of the items they carry from home to school.

In addition, Frank Otchere mentioned that students have formed vigilant groups in schools to promptly alert authorities whenever they suspect that any of their colleagues may be carrying small arms.

He further stated that during school reopening periods, the education directorate has instructed school heads to thoroughly inspect all items brought in by students.

He added that daily searches are conducted at school gates to help prevent the possession of small arms.
