The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asunafo North in the Ahafo Region, Joseph Akparibo has threatened to sue two (2) communicators of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if they fail to retract the “Ahafo Region Creation Is Useless” comment they have levelled against him.
Addressing the media during a presser at Goaso, the MCE said the two have five (5) working days to either retract the accusation or face legal action.
According to him, he never said in his radio conversation that the creation of the region is useless and of no benefits as claimed by these two (2) but instead he indicated that for the previous government not to centered all regional administration officers at Goaso, the regional capital as it has been done in other regions has not develop the Goaso.
He indicated that, the false pronouncement by Alfred Asiedu and Kobby Nimako Mensah in some ways has tarnished his reputation as an MCE, therefore they must render unqualified apology and retract.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Organiser for Asunafo North, Mohammed Bawa, expressed concern that a destooled chief, Nana Otuo Acheampong, claimed to be the representative of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs at the NPP presser, where he also accused the MCE of making an untrue statement.
He used the opportunity to called the regional house of chiefs to call him to order because what he did is acceptable and punishable.
The Communication Officer for NDC in the Asunafo North, Stephen Asante on his part noted that there is no where in the radio interview the MCE said the creation of Ahafo Region is useless, therefore as a matter of urgency the two who were students of the MCE must apologize and retract.
