Asunafo North Assembly sets up task force to enforce sanitation laws and prosecute offenders

-

The Asunafo North Municipal Assembly in the Ahafo Region has established a special task force to help enforce sanitation laws and arrest offenders.

According to the Environmental Health Analyst at the Assembly, Rejoice Ntiamoah, the task force was created to curb persistent littering and poor sanitation practices, particularly in the Goaso area.

Speaking during a cleanup exercise in Goaso, she told Adom News that, despite several interventions by the Assembly over the years, some residents continue to disregard basic hygiene regulations.

Ms. Ntiamoah added that the Assembly’s sanitation by-laws have now been gazetted, allowing for legal action to be taken against anyone caught flouting them. The new task force, she noted, will report offenders to ensure they are prosecuted in court.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Akparibo, and the Paramount Queen Mother of Goaso, Nana Afia Serwaa, also vowed to ensure strict compliance with sanitation laws.

They stressed that no one—regardless of social status—will be exempt from punishment and urged traders, shop owners, drivers, and tricycle operators to actively participate in national cleanup exercises.
