Aspiring National First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kojo Bamba, is urging peaceful polls ahead of Tuesday’s crucial by-election in Akwatia.
He has called on residents to turn out in their numbers to vote, while at the same time emphasizing the need for a peaceful process.
He believes democracy can only thrive in a violence-free atmosphere.
“As we go to the polls, let us remember that every vote counts. We must uphold the credibility of the process and ensure that Akwatia sets a fine example of peaceful elections,” he said.
The Akwatia by-election was necessitated by the passing of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi of the NPP, in July 2025.
The Electoral Commission subsequently fixed Tuesday, September 2, 2025, for the poll.
The contest has been described as a keenly contested one, with both the NPP and NDC seeking to consolidate their strength in the constituency, which has historically swung between the two parties.
Bamba also reaffirmed his support for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, urging constituents to rally behind the party to secure victory and retain the seat. He expressed confidence that, with unity and commitment, the NPP would emerge victorious.
