Division One League leaders AshantiGold have confirmed the appointment of experienced tactician Karim Zito as the club’s new head coach.
Zito’s arrival comes just 15 days after he resigned from his position at Asante Kotoko, following the club’s exit from the FA Cup.
The Porcupine Warriors were knocked out after suffering a home defeat to Aduana FC, capping a difficult spell that saw Kotoko register only one win in six matches.
AshantiGold are pushing for a return to the Ghana Premier League and will be banking on Zito’s pedigree to steer their promotion charge.
The Miners currently sit top of Zone Two in the Division One League standings with 40 points after 20 matches.
Zito boasts an impressive résumé, having guided Dreams FC to FA Cup success in 2023 and a historic semi-final appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup.
He went on to replicate FA Cup glory with Kotoko last season, adding the Toyota Cup, Super Cup and President’s Cup to his list of honours.
While the length of his contract has not been disclosed, Zito is expected to remain in charge until the end of the current campaign as AshantiGold intensify their bid for top-flight promotion.
