Scores of paramount, divisional, and sub-chiefs from across the Ashanti Kingdom have gathered at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi for an emergency sitting of the Asanteman Traditional Council, presided over by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
While details of the meeting’s agenda remain confidential, palace officials described the gathering as “urgent and of high importance” to the governance of the Ashanti Kingdom.
Security has been visibly heightened around the palace, with traditional protocol officers and police personnel ensuring order.
The Asanteman Traditional Council is the highest decision-making body of the Ashanti Kingdom, and emergency sittings are rare, often indicating significant developments within the traditional administration.
