Preparations for the final burial rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, have reached a critical stage as Manhyia Palace issues strict directives to ensure safety and order during the ceremony.
In a public announcement, the Funeral Planning Committee of Manhyia Palace reminded chiefs, traditional leaders, and mourners that the use of live ammunition is strictly prohibited.
The committee clarified that traditional musketry, a central feature of Asante royal ceremonies, will only be allowed if fired into the sky, not towards people or the ground.
“Anyone found violating these rules will be arrested and subjected to the appropriate legal action,” the statement warned.
The palace urged full compliance with the regulations to guarantee a safe and dignified farewell for the revered queen mother.
Security agencies are expected to work closely with palace authorities to enforce the directives, as Kumasi prepares for what is anticipated to be one of the largest funerary gatherings in decades.
