Asante Kotoko have expressed frustration over the slow progress of investigations and court proceedings into the death of staunch supporter Nana Frimpong Pooley.
Pooley tragically lost his life in February during a league match against Nsoatreman FC. Eight individuals have been charged in connection with the incident, but the case remains before the courts.
Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, speaking to JoySports, emphasised the need for urgency in resolving the matter.
“The matter is pending in court; it is for the state because this is a criminal matter,” he said. “Last Wednesday, we were in court, and the matter was adjourned to the 9th of October. All that we are waiting for is for the processes to be sped up.”
He acknowledged that delays are a common challenge within the judicial system but expressed hope for a faster resolution.
“You cannot put any blame on anybody because of the nature of our judicial system. It has always been slow,” Duku added.
Following the tragedy, Nsoatreman FC withdrew from the competition, highlighting the seriousness of the incident.
