Asante Kotoko to host Wydad AC in Accra after CAF rejects Baba Yara venue

Asante Kotoko will face Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup, the Ghanaian club has confirmed.

In an official statement, Kotoko revealed that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) had declined approval for the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to host the fixture.

“The management of Asante Kotoko regrets to announce that CAF has declined the approval of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host our CAF Confederation Cup clash against Wydad Athletic Club,” the club’s statement read.

The first-leg encounter is now set for Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 15:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for the following weekend.

The Porcupine Warriors advanced to this stage after an impressive showing against Kwara United in the previous round, defeating the Nigerian side 4–3 at home before securing a 1–0 win in Abeokuta to progress on a 5–3 aggregate.
