Asante Kotoko sign 21-year-old defender Joseph Amoah from Legon Cities

Asante Kotoko have officially completed the signing of talented left-back Joseph Amoah ahead of the 2025/26 football season.

Amoah joins the Porcupine Warriors on a four-year deal from Legon Cities, where he made over 50 appearances and established himself as a key player.

Reacting to the move, the 21-year-old expressed his excitement about joining the record Ghana Premier League champions.

“I’m absolutely elated to make this move,” Amoah said. “Coming from a Legon Cities side that had a tough season, to now joining the biggest club in Ghana, is a huge step in my career.

“There were a few offers on the table, but for me, it was always Asante Kotoko. The ambition here is clear, and I want to be part of something special, especially in the CAF Confederation Cup.”

Amoah becomes Kotoko’s seventh signing in the current transfer window, following the arrivals of Aziz Haruna Dari, Francis Acquah, Hubert Gyau, Zackaria Fuseini, Johnson Owusu Oppong, and Seth Kwadwo.

The former Benab FC player joined Legon Cities last season and quickly became one of their standout performers, scoring four goals and providing eight assists in 24 matches.

His impressive form attracted interest from several clubs, including arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, though that move eventually fell through.

Amoah is in line to make his debut for Kotoko in Sunday’s highly anticipated 2025 President’s Cup clash against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
