Asante Kotoko have officially presented their 2024/25 FA Cup trophy to the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, following their recent triumph in the competition.
The Porcupine Warriors clinched their 10th FA Cup title after edging out lower-tier side Golden Kick FC with a 2-1 victory at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Kwame Opoku opened the scoring early for Kotoko, but Golden Kick responded before halftime with a stunning free-kick goal from Bless Ege, leveling the score at 1-1.
Drama unfolded late in the game when Kotoko were awarded a penalty, which Opoku calmly converted to seal the win for head coach Karim Zito’s team.
After arriving in Kumasi on Monday, June 16, the team paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Wednesday, June 18, to present the trophy and celebrate the club’s latest achievement.
Leading the Kotoko delegation was Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC), alongside Kwesi Appiah and Technical Director Malik Jabir.
Otumfuo commended the team for their spirited performance and urged them to aim for excellence in continental competitions next season.
As a result of their FA Cup success, Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
