Asante Kotoko have secured a place in the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup after edging out Berekum Chelsea in a tightly contested semifinal clash at the TNA Park.
The match followed Golden Kick FC’s historic 3-1 win over Attram De Visser on Saturday, which saw the Division One side book their first-ever appearance in the competition’s final.
Kotoko and Chelsea both created chances in a goalless first half, but neither side was able to find the breakthrough before the break.
The intensity remained high after the restart, with both teams battling for dominance. However, it was Kotoko who finally found the winner just eight minutes from time.
Albert Amoah rose above the Chelsea defence to head in a pinpoint cross from Baba Yahaya, giving the Porcupine Warriors a crucial lead.
Chelsea pushed for an equaliser in the dying moments but were unable to break down Kotoko’s defence.
With the 1-0 victory, Asante Kotoko advance to the final, where they will face Golden Kick FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on June 15.
The Porcupine Warriors, who last lifted the FA Cup in 2017 after defeating Hearts of Oak 3-1, are now within reach of ending their trophy drought in the competition.
The winner of the final will also earn a spot in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
