The Municipal Chief Executive for Asante Akyem Central, Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, has appealed to corporate bodies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and philanthropists to urgently support the municipality to acquire a fire tender.
Speaking to Adom News during the 69th Independence Day celebration in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality, the MCE lamented that the area has been without a functional fire tender for some months.
According to him, the municipality’s existing fire tender is old and no longer operational, leaving the area vulnerable in the event of fire outbreaks.
Mr. Aidoo said the situation has raised serious concerns about the safety of residents, particularly after a 13-bedroom house was razed by fire a few weeks ago.
He noted that the municipality has recorded several fire outbreaks since the old fire tender became non-functional, describing the development as worrying.
The MCE therefore called on stakeholders and residents in Asante Akyem Central, Asante Akyem South, Asante Akyem North and Bosome Freho to support the initiative with financial contributions to help procure a new fire tender to enhance safety in the area.
