Arteta keen to keep Thomas Partey at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey to remain at the club.

Partey’s contract is set to expire this summer, having joined the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020 on a five-year deal. With the transfer window approaching, the 31-year-old has attracted interest from Barcelona, Juventus, and several Saudi Pro League sides.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s final game of the season, Arteta praised Partey’s form and availability.

“In regards to Thomas, consistency-wise, it’s been his best season,” Arteta said. “The way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional, and he’s a really important player for us. Yeah, I want him to stay.”

Partey has made 51 appearances this season—the most in a single campaign since joining the club—after previously struggling with injuries. He has also contributed four goals.

He is expected to feature when Arsenal take on Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday.
