Arsenal in final talks to extend Partey’s contract amid interest

Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with midfielder Thomas Partey in a bid to secure his long-term future, according to Football Insider.

Partey, 31, joined the Gunners from Atlético Madrid in 2020 and is approaching the final months of his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the current season.

With the summer transfer window on the horizon, the Ghana international has reportedly drawn interest from European powerhouses Barcelona and Juventus, as well as several clubs in Saudi Arabia.

However, Football Insider reports that Arsenal are wrapping up talks with the midfielder over a possible contract extension.

Earlier in the campaign, the club had been prepared to let Partey leave on a free transfer. But his strong performances since returning from injury have prompted a reassessment, and the club is now eager to retain his experience and quality in midfield.

Partey has made 47 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side across all competitions this season, underlining his importance to the squad.

His absence was keenly felt during Arsenal’s Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, where the midfield lacked his defensive stability. He is expected to return for the second leg at the Parc des Princes.

Sources close to the club suggest Partey is settled at the Emirates and open to signing a new two-year deal.

However, if an agreement isn’t reached soon, he remains open to opportunities abroad, with interest from top European and Middle Eastern clubs continuing to intensify.
