The St. Augustine’s Past Students Union (APSU) has dismissed recent social media allegations about St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast, as false, misleading, and malicious.
The claims, which purportedly describe widespread abuse, intimidation, and unsafe disciplinary practices, are fabricated and appear intended to undermine the reputation of the College and its Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Patrick Appiah.
A three-member committee established by the Ghana Education Service (GES) previously investigated similar allegations submitted by an anonymous “concerned parent.”
The committee’s findings, submitted to the GES Director-General, confirmed there was no evidence of corporal punishment, coercion, unsafe disciplinary practices, or abuse of students.
The committee further recommended the continuation of positive disciplinary measures and night patrols to ensure student safety, affirming the College’s commitment to maintaining high standards.
APSU expressed concern that the current wave of social media claims mirrors the earlier baseless allegations and may form part of a broader effort to discredit the College’s leadership as it works to restore discipline and academic excellence.
The Union reassured the public, parents, and partners that St. Augustine’s College remains a safe, well-supervised environment dedicated to the holistic development of every student.
APSU urged the public to disregard the circulating content and avoid spreading falsehoods aimed at tarnishing the legacy of one of Ghana’s most respected secondary institutions.
