Antoine Semenyo explains decision after extending Bournemouth contract

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has opened up on his decision to commit his future to Premier League club AFC Bournemouth, despite attracting interest from top English sides.

The 25-year-old has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the Vitality Stadium until 2030, turning down advances from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the former Bristol City striker revealed that feeling valued by the Cherries was key to his decision.

“When you’re somewhere, you want to feel wanted, and I didn’t feel that elsewhere, so this was my safe place,” he said.

“I felt wanted and it’s good to be back. It’s still the best place to be right now,” Semenyo added.

Semenyo enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in 37 league appearances.

His performances cemented his status as a regular starter under manager Andoni Iraola.

He is expected to play a pivotal role in Bournemouth’s plans for the upcoming season.
