The spirit of carnival is set to ignite across the UK this summer with the Mas Africa Band, joined by the talented Ankos Dancers, bringing their electrifying performances to Margate, Notting Hill, and Hartlepool.
These events promise a dazzling display of culture, music, and dance, drawing crowds from near and far.
Kicking off the season on 27th July, the Mas Africa Band will grace Ramsgate Carnival at the Government Acre, Westcliff Promenade. This event will feature the Ankos Dancers in a spectacular display of costume and choreography, setting the tone for a summer filled with carnival joy.
From 1st to 10th August, the Mas Africa Band will light up Hartlepool Headland with daily performances from 2 pm to 10 pm. Hosted at the TS24 0NX Moor Parade, this carnival offers free entry and over 100 rides and attractions courtesy of Murphy’s Funfair.
Again, the Ankos (Masqueraders) Dancers will lead the grand parade on 10th August, culminating a week-long celebration of music, dance, and community spirit.
On 3rd August, the seaside town of Margate will host the Mas Africa Band at the Palm Bay–Westbrook venue. The carnival will feature vibrant parades with elaborate costumes, lively music, and the dynamic Ankos Dancers.
Supported by Kent County Council, Arts Council England, SEKF Social Enterprise Kent, and Fresh Electrical Solar, this event showcases a rich tapestry of African heritage. Highlights include stunning floats and community participation, with families and visitors enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Additionally, the iconic Notting Hill Carnival will see the Mas Africa Band return on 24th and 25th August. Known for its massive street parade, this event will feature the Ankos Dancers in their signature masquerader outfits, blending traditional African rhythms with contemporary flair.
The carnival, a staple of London’s cultural calendar, promises an unforgettable experience with its colourful costumes and infectious energy.
These carnivals, supported by local councils and cultural organisations, highlight the diversity and creativity of the Mas Africa Band and Ankos Dancers.
