Angry NPP youth of Savelugu-Nanton in the Northern region have this morning locked up the offices of the Municipal Assembly after armed military men escorted the new and embattled Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Ayishatu Seidu to her office to start work Wednesday.

The MCE had to be escorted by armed military men because the youth had earlier sworn they will not allow her to work.

The party youth have, since the nomination of the Hajia Ayishatu Seidu, been against her, claiming they never saw her during the electioneering campaign and she has no clue what promises NPP made to the people of the area so she cannot deliver.

Assistant Secretary of the group, Gafaru Abubakar earlier told Adom News Regional Correspondent, Abdul Rauf Illiasu they were well prepared to face the military if they keep escorting the MCE to the office.

“We are ready to sacrifice our lives for the good of the area – we will come out in our numbers and if the military try to stop us we will face them,” he said.

“We are more than prepared to fight for the right thing to be done – we are not going to give up unless this woman is no more the MCE,” Gafaru added.

Subsequent to those threats, the youth indeed stormed the Municipal Assembly building Thursday and locked down the office of the MCE, and have sworn to refuse her entry.

Illiasu reports that there was one policeman in the office of the MCE when it was locked up so the policeman is stuck in there.

The MCE is yet to report to work, meanwhile, there is heavy security in the area.
