The Anglican Church, in collaboration with the Compassion Project, has intensified efforts to strengthen child protection and promote the welfare of children in Kenyasi in the Ahafo Region.

Speaking to Adom News at a child protection durbar held at Kenyasi No. 1 under the theme, “Effectiveness of Child Protection Systems in Preventing and Responding to Child Exploitation,” the Project Director, Elgin Agyemang Bonsu, said the event sought to highlight the various forms of abuse children face at home, in schools, and within their communities.

He explained that such abuses, if left unaddressed, could have long-term consequences on children’s development and future prospects, underscoring the need for early intervention and collective action.

According to Mr. Bonsu, children can only thrive academically and socially when they are adequately protected and supported—a responsibility he said must be shared by parents, institutions, and all relevant stakeholders.

He stressed that no individual should be shielded when found culpable of violating the rights of children, noting that accountability is critical to the effectiveness of child protection systems.

Mr. Bonsu further indicated that the partnership between the Anglican Church and the Compassion Project goes beyond child protection to include the provision of quality education and apprenticeship training to equip children with skills for a better future.

He disclosed that about 200 children are currently under the care of the Anglican Church and the Compassion Project, receiving support in education, healthcare, and overall wellbeing.
