Ama Pratt reacts to claims Kevin Taylor is being housed in Veep’s residence [Audio]

Press Secretary to the Vice President, Ama Pratt, has dismissed as false and baseless rumours suggesting that US-based Ghanaian journalist Kevin Taylor is being housed at the Vice President’s official residence.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Ms. Pratt flatly denied the allegation, stating that it was not worth dignifying with a serious response.

“He doesn’t stay in the Vice President’s house, and that is the end of the matter. I have no idea where he stays. We heard about it, but it is not everything you hear that you respond to; otherwise, we won’t go to work,” she stated.

The rumours stem from recent comments by Assin South MP and Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. He alleged that Mr. Taylor was escorted to the Vice President’s official residence—currently unoccupied—as Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is residing in her private home. He also claimed the journalist was received at the Kotoka International Airport by national security operatives.

But Ama Pratt insists such claims are a distraction from the real issues facing the country.

“We don’t have to waste the time of government on trivial matters. We should be focused on important things with the capacity in which we serve. We mean serious business. The country is in a bad state, and we are focused on rebuilding and resetting to make the country better,” she said.

She further clarified that Mr. Taylor has not visited the Vice President’s office since arriving in Ghana.

Recalling a previous incident involving misinformation, she said, “We were in Ghana when the Vice President fell sick, and people even claimed that she had died, but did you hear me utter any word?”

Ms. Pratt urged the public to disregard such falsehoods and remain focused on meaningful national discourse.
