The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has cut sod for the commencement of six development projects across the education, health, roads and water sectors in the Ashiedu Keteke, Ablekuma South and Okaikoi South Sub-Metropolitan Districts.
The projects form part of the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen basic service delivery and accelerate community infrastructure development within the metropolis.

They include the renovation of a three-storey, nine-unit classroom block at the Private They include the renovation of a three-storey, nine-unit classroom block at the Private Odartey Lamptey Basic School, upgrades to facilities at the Makola Clinic, and road reshaping, base preparation and paving works along the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue corridor in Accra’s Central Business District.

Additional components of the project package include the drilling and mechanisation of 10 boreholes in selected schools in Ablekuma South, as well as the construction of nine water storage facilities in selected markets in Okaikoi South, alongside other related community infrastructure works.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony at the school, the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, said the projects are expected to be completed within four to ten months from the commencement date.
He noted that funding for the projects is being provided through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund (IGF).
The Mayor expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for supporting local assemblies through the Common Fund to undertake development projects. He also acknowledged the support and guidance he continues to receive from a senior colleague with extensive experience in local governance.
He called on residents to support the Assembly’s initiatives, stressing that governance must be driven by action and a commitment to service delivery.
