The Alpha Ladies, a Ghanaian philanthropic club of young women, have donated relief items and financial support worth over GH¢25,000 to mothers of children living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

The donation, which took place in Tema on Saturday, December 13, 2025, was aimed at easing the burden on affected families while empowering mothers towards economic independence.

The items presented included a chest freezer, 200 bags of sachet water, a wheelchair, a walker, and assorted essential toiletries. These comprised detergents, diapers, wipes, toilet rolls, soaps, and Christmas hampers to help meet the hygiene needs of the children, many of whom experience incontinence.

Recognising that the demands of caregiving often prevent mothers from engaging in full-time work, the Alpha Ladies also provided financial support to five beneficiaries to help them establish small businesses. The beneficiaries were Diana Dunyoh, Naomi Narh, Emelia Okoso, Cecilia Etuaful, and Madam Beatrice Addico.

Madam Addico, in particular, received a chest freezer and 200 bags of sachet water to support her sachet water business.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Cecilia Etuaful expressed gratitude to the group.

“We thank the Alpha Ladies profusely and ask God to bless them and replenish their source,” she said.

In a touching show of appreciation, Madam Beatrice Addico, a seamstress, presented handmade aprons to members of the Alpha Ladies, as well as a specially sewn dress for Rev. Mrs. Madjitey, in recognition of the club’s support.

The donation reflects the Alpha Ladies’ commitment to social responsibility, women empowerment, and improving the quality of life for children living with medical challenges.

Since its formation in 2022, the Alpha Ladies have consistently undertaken humanitarian initiatives across the country. Their first outreach targeted the Save Them Young Orphanage, where they donated essential items to support vulnerable children.

In 2023, the group extended support to widows in and around Tema, providing relief items and financial assistance to ease economic hardship and restore dignity.

Their healthcare support efforts continued in 2024 at the Tema General Hospital, where they paid medical bills to secure the discharge of new mothers and female patients unable to afford treatment.

In 2025, the club further demonstrated its commitment to child welfare and healthcare by making a major donation to children living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus under the Dorcas Margaret Foundation.

From 2022 to 2025, the Alpha Ladies have remained steadfast in their mission of service, compassion, and community empowerment, leaving a lasting positive impact on lives and communities across Ghana.
