An alleged fake soldier, identified as Warrant Officer Enoch Appiah, has been arrested at Kasoa for attempting to sell firearms to undercover police officers.
According to Crime Check TV, the police acted on a tip-off that the suspect was looking for buyers for assault rifles believed to be in his possession.
Following intelligence-led operations, Appiah was traced to his hideout at Domeabra, near the Nurses Quarters area, where he was residing in an uncompleted building with his three wives.
The suspect was arrested after officers tactically positioned themselves and moved in to apprehend him.
A search conducted at the premises led to the retrieval of two pistols — a Beretta and a Taurus — along with three rounds of AK-47 assault rifle ammunition.
Police also recovered a fake military identity card bearing the name “WO Enoch Appiah” and several military uniforms.
Investigations are ongoing to establish how the suspect acquired the weapons and uniforms and to determine whether he has links to any criminal networks.
The police have indicated that further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
