Former Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Akanbi has expressed disappointment over what he describes as a lack of respect and acknowledgment for his contributions to the club.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Prep Zone, Akanbi said, “I have sacrificed a lot for Hearts of Oak, but I don’t get the needed recognition.”
He also recounted a troubling incident during a scouting trip to Bawku, where he was allegedly detained for five days.
“I was locked in Bawku for five days while scouting players for Hearts of Oak,” he revealed.
Akanbi further accused the media of fueling animosity against him among the club’s supporters.
“Hearts of Oak fans’ hatred for me is fuelled by the media. They keep spreading false stories about me,” he said.
Meanwhile, the club is intensifying preparations for the 2025/26 football season following a trophyless 2024/25 campaign.
