Alhaji Seidu Agongo, on behalf of the Class Media Group, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for confirming the interdiction of officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) involved in the assault of their colleague, journalist Samuel Addo, at the Kasoa New Market.
In a statement, Alhaji Agongo said the prompt action highlights the government’s commitment to press freedom and accountability within security services.
“This incident was despicable and unacceptable. It is not just about one journalist; it is about safeguarding the integrity of our institutions and the reputation of the Ghana National Fire Service,” he noted.
Alhaji Agongo expressed confidence that investigative bodies will act swiftly to ensure justice is served and that necessary reforms are implemented to protect journalists.
He added that the Class Media Group is ready to support the process through dialogue, advocacy, and initiatives aimed at guaranteeing sustainable reforms for the safety of journalists and the credibility of security services.
“Together, let us protect Ghana’s hard-earned democratic credentials,” Alhaji Agongo said.
