Asante Kotoko forward Albert Amoah remains optimistic about his side’s chances of winning the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.
The Porcupine Warriors overturned a deficit thanks to a remarkable performance from Amoah, who netted all three goals to secure a 3-2 victory against Medeama SC.
The result propels Kotoko to third place on the league table with 58 points, just two shy of leaders Nations FC, setting up a tense final day with one match remaining.
Speaking after the match, the 23-year-old striker shared his excitement over the win and reaffirmed the team’s ambition to clinch the title.
“We are happy [to have beaten Medeama]. It is our dream to win the Premier League, but it’s not too late, so we are happy to claim the three points,” Amoah said in a post-match statement after the game.
He acknowledged the strength of their opponents and credited their coach for preparing them for a tough encounter.
“They are a very good side, and our coach told us that this was going to be a tough game, so we should fight hard, and we are happy to win.”
Despite his hat-trick, Amoah insisted he is capable of producing even better performances.
“I’m not very ok because I can do more than this, but there is more to come. I don’t really have a special position, wherever you place me on the pitch, I’m comfortable apart from goalkeeping,” he added.
On the possibility of winning the Golden Boot, Amoah remains hopeful.
“It’s not late [to win the title], everything is possible, and it’s not too late. We have one match to go against Vision FC, an away game. We hope to go and claim all three points there so the goals can also come,” Amoah concluded.
Amoah’s treble takes his season tally to 12 goals, trailing Berekum Chelsea’s Stephen Amankona, who leads the scoring chart with 15 goals.
Asante Kotoko will wrap up their campaign with a crucial away fixture against Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Sunday, where the title and individual honours could be decided.
