Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change is now United Party

-

Former Trade and Industry Minister Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has officially rebranded his political movement, the Movement for Change, under a new name, the United Party.

The announcement was made at a ceremony in Accra on Thursday, marking what Mr. Kyerematen described as a new phase in his political journey to contest Ghana’s presidency outside the dominance of the two major parties.

According to him, the United Party’s vision is to make Ghana the economic powerhouse of Africa by 2040, driven by innovation, inclusive growth, and strong governance.

Mr. Kyerematen, who resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in September 2023, said his decision to leave was influenced by what he called unfair treatment and deep internal divisions within the governing party.

After his resignation, he launched the Movement for Change, symbolised by the butterfly, promoting what he termed a “transformational leadership agenda” aimed at uniting Ghanaians around national development rather than partisan politics
