Gospel music group Alabaster Box has confirmed that its legal dispute with rapper Medikal remains before the courts, following unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter privately.
In an interview on Hitz FM, the group stated that its legal team is actively pursuing the case after all efforts to reach an amicable settlement outside the courtroom failed.
The group explained that initial attempts involved dialogue through intermediaries in hopes of resolving the dispute professionally. Both parties had agreed to involve neutral representatives, but the process collapsed once legal counsel was introduced.
“Our intention was never to escalate tensions but to reach a fair resolution through mutual understanding,” they said. “The first thing we did was call his people, and they brought in a middle person. We also brought our middle person, who happened to be a lawyer, and they ran away from that prospect. Even when we brought in the lawyer, it wasn’t like we were going to squeeze them. We were hoping to settle this properly.”
Alabaster Box further revealed that the court granted permission for substitute service after attempts to formally serve Medikal with legal documents proved unsuccessful. This allowed the legal notice to be served through alternative channels, including public postings and digital platforms, in accordance with court procedures.
The group said the matter is now entirely in the hands of the judiciary, with any potential out-of-court settlement requiring court supervision.
Alabaster Box expressed disappointment that early efforts at dialogue did not yield results, despite approaching the situation with maturity and professionalism. They remain confident that justice will ultimately be served.
At the time of filing this report, neither Medikal nor his representatives had publicly responded to the group’s latest comments.
