Angry youth of Akyem Asene in the Asene-Manso-Akroso District of the Eastern Region have staged a protest against their Member of Parliament, George Kwame Aboagye, accusing him of neglect and failing to honour campaign promises made since 2016.
The demonstrators cited the continued abandonment of key community projects — a library and an Astroturf — both left uncompleted for more than 13 years. They also highlighted a dangerously dilapidated bridge in the area, describing it as a “death trap.”
“We have waited long enough. The bridge is a hazard, and the library and Astroturf are just wasting away,” a protester told the press during the protest.
Clad in red armbands and carrying placards, the protesters chanted and marched through the town, calling on the MP to take immediate steps to address their concerns.
They demanded that Mr. Aboagye prioritise the completion of the stalled projects and act swiftly to fix the collapsing bridge, which they say poses a major safety risk to residents.
The demonstration underscores growing frustration in the constituency over unmet infrastructure needs and a perceived lack of accountability.
