The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially named Solomon Asumadu as its parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
The announcement was made by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, during a press conference held at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Tuesday.
Mr. Kodua stated that the National Council unanimously approved Mr. Asumadu’s nomination following extensive consultations with party elders and stakeholders.
Mr. Asumadu, who currently serves as the NPP Constituency Treasurer, is widely regarded as a committed grassroots mobilizer and a strong financier of the party’s activities in Akwatia.
His loyalty and long-standing service to the party have earned him the trust and backing of both the national leadership and the local constituency executives.
The Electoral Commission is yet to announce the official date for the by-election, which has become necessary following the death of Akwatia MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi, on Monday, July 7, 2025.
