Senior Advisor to the 2025 Bawumia Campaign, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has defended the record of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, asserting that history will ultimately judge his administration more favourably despite current criticism.
The Akufo-Addo government has faced intense scrutiny since leaving office after eight years, with some critics describing it as one of the worst in Ghana’s political history.
Mr Karbo, however, argued that such assessments are premature and fail to account for the long-term impact of key policies implemented during the administration.
Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV on Tuesday, January 6, he said the full extent of the former President’s achievements would only become evident over time.
“I think vindication is what will serve Akufo-Addo in the course of time. Much of the work he did over eight years will take time for Ghanaians to fully appreciate,” he said.
He highlighted major initiatives such as the Free Senior High School policy, along with extensive infrastructure and social interventions across the country, as indicators of the lasting developmental legacy of the Akufo-Addo administration.
