The Office of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has strongly denied claims that he is seeking assurances from President John Dramani Mahama for the safe return of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

In a statement dated 16th December 2025, the Office described a publication by the Herald Newspaper and subsequent media reports on the matter as “utterly false” and a “total fabrication.”

The statement clarified that Nana Akufo-Addo has neither contemplated nor made any request or representation to President Mahama, his agents, or assigns regarding Ofori-Atta’s return.

The Office emphasized the former President’s commitment to democratic principles and the rule of law, noting that while he is concerned about the welfare of Ofori-Atta—who is also his cousin and served as Finance Minister under his government—this concern does not extend to interfering with legal processes.

The statement further demanded that media outlets publish the retraction in accordance with the former President’s rights, aiming to set the record straight on the matter.
