New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Akosua Manu has questioned the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection over what she describes as inconsistencies in the response to cases involving the protection of women and children.
In a post on social media, Miss Manu criticised the Minister’s swift outreach to the husband of a popular social media influencer following allegations involving child abuse, arguing that similar urgency and empathy should be extended to other cases requiring state protection.
She contrasted the response with the case of Salomey Awiti, whose mother was reportedly taken from her home and detained in Accra for nearly three weeks.
Miss Manu questioned whether authorities had considered the emotional and psychological impact of the incident on the children.
“I wonder if anyone in authority stopped to consider the emotional and psychological toll on those children,” she wrote.
The NPP communicator also questioned what steps the Gender Minister had taken regarding disturbing rape allegations involving the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High School (SHS).
She further noted that the headmaster was reportedly a constituency secretary aspiring to become a constituency chairman.
Miss Manu’s comments raise questions about the consistency of the government’s response to allegations involving the welfare of women and children, particularly where vulnerable individuals may require urgent support and protection.
