The Apagyahene of Akwapim Ahwerease, Nana Opare Odei, has assured that the community is calm and fully prepared to celebrate this year’s Odwira Festival.
Ahwerease, which forms part of the Adonten Division of the Akwapim State, will host the 2025 edition of the festival following a period of disturbances in previous years. Traditional authorities say peace has now been restored, paving the way for a smooth and vibrant celebration.
In an interview with Adom News’ Ohene Amponsah, Nana Opare Odei stated that community leaders have taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety and success of the festivities. He encouraged both indigenes and visitors to participate in the cultural event, which holds deep significance for the people of Akwapim.
The Apagyahene also disclosed that the Police Command has made adequate security arrangements to maintain law and order before, during, and after the festival.
He expressed optimism that this year’s Odwira celebration will highlight the unity, peace, and rich cultural heritage of the people of Ahwerease-Akwapim.
