Several persons have been injured following a road traffic accident involving a fuel tanker and two other vehicles at Ahodwo, near Ridge Condos in Kumasi.

The crash, which occurred on April 16, 2026, involved a fuel tanker, a Kia Morning, and a Hyundai Santa Fe.

The injured, all drivers of the vehicles, were rescued by bystanders and rushed to hospital for treatment, while the tanker driver’s mate escaped unhurt.

The impact left the Kia Morning severely damaged, while the tanker head, the Hyundai Santa Fe, and about 18 vehicles parked at a nearby auto sales garage sustained varying degrees of damage.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and focused on preventing a possible fire outbreak, as the tanker was carrying about 54,000 litres of petrol.

Firefighters worked to cool the tanker and secure the area, with support from the police to manage traffic, control crowds, and prevent fuel siphoning.

The tanker was later towed to safety after the situation was brought under control.

Authorities say no fatalities were recorded, while investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
