The President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Ntotroso, Barima Twereko Ampem III, has called on teachers to use Ghana’s cultural values as a tool to guide students away from engaging in same-sex relationships.
Speaking during the cultural week celebration at Ola Girls’ Senior High School in Kenyasi No. 2, Barima Twereko Ampem emphasized that a stronger focus on traditional values and customs can help shape students’ moral character and protect them from foreign influences that contradict Ghanaian cultural beliefs.
He commended Ola Girls’ SHS for dedicating a week each year to celebrate the diverse cultures of Ghana’s 16 regions and encouraged other schools to adopt similar practices. According to him, “When students are well-grounded in our culture, no external influence can easily sway them.”
The Paramount Queen Mother of Kenyasi No. 1, Nana Yaa Adutwumwaa Mrosa, also addressed the gathering, urging students to take lessons in culture seriously, noting that it instills discipline and self-respect.
She further cautioned the youth against posting inappropriate content on social media, warning that such actions could have lasting negative consequences on their future opportunities.
