The Agona West Constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have dismissed reports claiming that their 2024 parliamentary candidate, Lawyer Christopher Arthur, and Yaabem Electoral Area Coordinator, Rigs Mohammed, have been suspended.
In a statement dated July 15, 2025, the executives described the claims as “mischievous” and aimed at creating divisions within the party.
“We state clearly and unequivocally that no such decision has been made by the Constituency Executive Committee in any meeting. The Agona West NPP Executive Committee has not suspended Mr. Christopher Arthur, Esq. and Rigs Mohammed,” the statement read.
The executives also took issue with Anthony Kwame Kum, who is alleged to have signed the purported suspension letter, accusing him of acting without authorization and undermining party unity.
They further noted that Mr. Kum had previously been involved in organizing a special duty campaign in Agona West during the 2024 elections, raising concerns about his intentions and credibility.
The constituency leadership is calling on the party’s regional and national executives to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against those behind what they termed “unreasonable mischief.”
