The Agona Swedru District Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the alleged transport of 209 slaps of narcotic drugs in the Central Region.
The suspects, identified as Godfred Acquah, 28, and Awudu Usman, 34, were intercepted during a snap check on the Agona Kwesi Twi-kwaa to Agona Asafo road.

Police say the suspects attempted to bribe officers with Gh¢100,000, an offer that was rejected.

Deputy Central Regional Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Isaac Entie, told reporters that the operation began when officers discovered 154 compressed slaps of dried leaves suspected to be narcotics hidden in four nylon sacks inside a taxi cab with registration number GR 2932-26.

Further searches at Usman’s residence in Asisim, a suburb of Agona Swedru, uncovered an additional 55 slaps, bringing the total to 209 parcels.
Chief Inspector Entie said the suspects would be prosecuted and brought before court to face charges related to the possession and trafficking of narcotic substances.
Authorities commended the officers for their diligence and refusal to accept the bribe, emphasizing the police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in the region.
