The Agona Swedru District Police Command has torched 10 suspected drug ghettos and arrested four individuals in a major swoop in the Agona West Municipality of the Central Region.
The exercise, dubbed Operation Burn All Ghettos, was led by District Police Commander ASP Vida Yenkey and District Crime Officer ASP Erica Naab.
It formed part of efforts to clamp down on drug abuse and related criminal activities among the youth.
ASP Yenkey revealed that the four suspects — three men and one woman — are in police custody assisting with investigations.
She also appealed to stakeholders, traditional authorities, and opinion leaders in Agona Swedru to support the police in their crackdown on drug dens across the municipality.
“The police remain committed to fighting illicit drug use and crime, but interference from certain local leaders continues to be a challenge,” ASP Yenkey told Adom News off-camera.
The police have assured residents of sustained operations to restore safety and security in the area.
