The government has commenced the removal of waste at Agbogbloshie as part of efforts to address sanitation challenges in the area.
The exercise, which begins today, is being undertaken through the Ministry of Local Government, with support from the Ministries of Finance, Roads and Highways, and Energy.
Roads and Highways Minister, Governs Kwame Agbodza, announced the development in a post on X, while challenging professionals in the built environment to contribute ideas towards the redevelopment of Agbogbloshie.
“I challenge the Ghana Institute of Architects, Ghana institution of Engineering, Planners etc to step forward and make proposals for the best possible AGBOGBLOSHI REGENERATION Proposals for the area in line with government policy.”
The Minister is calling on architects, engineers, planners and other professionals to develop practical proposals that can guide the regeneration of the area in line with government policy.
He said the redevelopment effort requires collective participation from relevant professional bodies and stakeholders.
“Yes, we can do this together. Let’s get to work.”
The call comes as government begins the waste evacuation exercise at Agbogbloshie, with the broader objective of transforming the area through a structured regeneration programme.
